About the Role

Responsible for assisting the Controller, Regional V.P of Finance and Division President with the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, division financial reporting, planning/forecasting, adherence to corporate policies and procedures, accounts payable, payroll calculations, and regional/corporate reporting. Assist in all external reporting, including financial institutions, taxing authorities, owners, and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for meeting the timeliness in the monthly financial closing schedule.
Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages including joint ventures.
Oversee the preparation of community and division level variance analysis, including cost/volume/ profit relationships.
Periodically review and ensure the proper recording, maintenance, and update of all job cost budget revisions.
Oversee accounts payable department and related functions.
Manage, mentor and grow a staff of 2-4 accounting and accounts payable associates.
Assist in the preparation of financing requests of prospective communities, active communities and land bank proformas.
Assist in preparation of annual business plans and periodic updates as well as long-term planning (forecasts).
Oversee the maintenance of division backlog.
Assist with the maintenance and integrity of the division’s JD Edwards financial system setup and related issues.
Assist with the maintenance of all statistical accounts.
Review and reconcile specific P & L and Balance Sheet accounts (Warranty, WIP/Inventory, Receivables etc.)
Responsible for the preparation of month end closing entries, including maintenance of general ledger accounts and monthly cost of sales.
Assist with all governmental reporting including personal, real property and sales and use taxes.
Assist in the coordination of annual and divisional audits.
Responsible for the division’s adherence to corporate policies and procedures.
Complete various projects assigned by Division President, Regional Controller, or Vice President - Finance.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or Finance required; CPA is a plus

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • JD Edwards and Hyperion experience highly desirable

  • Strong accounting background

  • Ability to follow directions and meet reporting deadlines.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Excel Spreadsheet and Microsoft Word

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent analytical and writing skills required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to self-start and achieve objectives with minimal supervision.

  • Interact well with co-workers.

  • Understand and follow work rules and procedures.

  • Strong work ethic and integrity
